The country of ignorant
How many times have you heard that we Italians are ignorant? "In the ranking of OECD countries, more educated, Italy is in 28th place out of 30." Giovanni Floris says in his book published by Rizzoli in 2008.
Now, easy to statistics, easy to take random samples in European countries and then say that in Italy we are all ignorant, but where did these samples come from? Why for example, no one bothers to note that young Australians have no idea who Shakespeare?
No, no joke. We have had the test last month, when the young guests of the exchange program at my school they were surprised, because, during English class, we watched the representation of the tragedy "Macbeth."
"Do you know who Shakespeare was?" asks the teacher.
"No I do" I reply to each other.
And then would we be ignorant? Based on what these rankings are drawn? Who would pay less for school? Because when it comes to bank accounts then we are in last place. Otherwise, I wonder what could be the reason .... will investigate.
